The International Cat Fanciers Association recognizes 73 standard breeds of cat. The Cat Fanciers Association recognizes 45 and the Federation International Feline recognizes 48. Here, we present some of the most common and popular recognized by all the various associations.

Based on registrations, the CFA records that the top 10 most popular cat breeds as of Feb 2022 are most popular: Ragdoll, Maine Coon, Exotic, Persian, Devon Rex, British Shorthair, Abyssinian, American Shorthair, Scottish Fold, Domestic Shorthair or Long Hair Cat (companion cat) and in tenth, the Sphynx cat.
